El 7 de Agosto se anunciaron los nominados a los premios MTV 2007 y muchos se mataron de la risa. Otros sólo confirmaron la decidida manera en que la cadena musical se distancia de su idea original de premiar vídeos. Con la desaparición de premios por género (rock, hip hop, rap, r&b) y el inesperado debut de ternas como "Sencillo Monstruo del Año" y "Amenaza Cuádruple del Año", MTV parece querer parodiarse como en sus recordadas imitaciones de películas en las tantas ediciones de los MTV Movie Awards.
